Jamaica has the supremacy of the highest concentration of churches for square kilometer in the world . The extraordinary present mixture of races and cultures in the country determines the coexistence of several religious beliefs: it is principally a Christian country ( the 80% of the population ) with several Baptists Protestants, Anglicans and Roman Catholics. The Hebrew and Islamic religions are present too.

Rasta: The I enliven Rastafari, whose name comes from the Ras (prince) and Tafari terms (to fear) in honour of the Ethiopian Emperor Hailè Salassiè, it is born in Jamaica at the end of the 1920s as claim of the black nationalism. The founder is Marcus Garvey, creator of an association for the improvement of the conditions of the black people in the world, and the return to the mother Africa. The movement is premonitory of an upcoming ascent of a black Redentore to king in Africa that is identified in crowned Hailè Salassiè emperor of Etiopia in 1930. Salassiè is considered descendant of King Salomon, king of the king, and Lion of the Jewish Tribe. The one who would have brought the Rastafarians back from their place of exile to Sion, the promised land.
To symbolize the mane of the Lion of Judah, the followers of the movement adopt as hair the Dreadlocks, long plaits used by a few African tribe, and wear the Tam, the typical wool cap red, green and gold, colours of the Ethiopian flag. About the 60% of the Rasta smokes the Marijuana (called Ganja) claiming that it help them to stay in contact with god. They use to cook I-Tal without salt and they are vegetarian.

Bob Marley gave the world brilliant and evocative music; his music covered two decades and yet still remains timeless and universal. It was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love - inspired by his belief in Rastafari - was beginning to be heard and felt.
